Hooker Files’ sights on six appeal

YOUNG hooker Adam Files will be out to make it six of the best at Whitebank on Sunday.

On a season-long loan to Oldham from link club Salford City Reds, 20-year-old Files has scored a try in each of his adopted club’s last five games.

His try-every-game sequence began against Rochdale at Whitebank and continued at Hunslet (Tetley’s Challenge Cup) and in league games against Gloucester, Oxford and Hemel Stags. He has scored six times across the five games

Coach Scott Naylor faces a selection dilemma with three hookers, Files, Kenny Hughes and club vice-captain Sam Gee, pushing for two spots against Gateshead Thunder (1pm kick-off).

Gee missed out at Hemel where Roughyeds scored half-a-dozen tries in their best attacking

display so far, the fifth one going to ever-alert Files, who has gone joint top of the club’s try-scoring chart with Danny Langtree, each with six.

Naylor’s men will be seeking their first league win at home. With two games in a row coming up at Whitebank, Naylor’s immediate task is to boost home form and he wants his men to showcase their attacking skills in front of their fans.

“We have worked hard on our offensive structures since the Oxford game and there was a big improvement at Hemel.”

The six tries Oldham scored then took their total in nine games in all competitions to 37. In four league matches, Roughyeds have scored 19 tries.
