CHRIS Hamilton is hoping Oldham RL fans will make tomorrow’s final fixture of the regular Kingstone Press Championship One campaign at Rochdale feel like a home match.

Roughyeds bring their regular league fixtures to a close with a tasty local derby at Spotland, where revenge will be on the agenda following the Hornets’ season-opening 28-18 win at Whitebank on Good Friday.

With the Roughyeds now having confirmed at least second place in the table this season, club chairman Hamilton said: “I’m expecting maybe six or seven-hundred Oldham fans to make the trip to Rochdale tomorrow - that should see us with the majority of the support inside the stadium.

“We do normally take a big following up to Spotland, and our fans have been terrific throughout this season.

“Everyone was so disappointed with the Good Friday result – particularly after we’d already beaten them in the Law Cup and the Northern Rail Cup – so the players will be keen to redress the balance.”

North Wales Crusaders remain favourites to top the table and win automatic promotion. Currently four points behind Oldham, they have two games in hand.

“There’s always that added spice with it being a derby game against Rochdale, and there will be even further excitement among the players as they’ll get the chance to showcase their talents on TV. They’ll come out for the game with all guns blazing.”
