Oldham friendly switched to home
Date published: 27 August 2013
THE forthcoming friendly against Leigh Centurions Academy, initially fixed for Leigh Sports Village, is now earmarked for Whitebank.
There's a change of date and kick-off time, too, from this Sunday, September 1, to the previous day, Saturday, August 31 at 3pm.
Designed to bridge the gap between the Roughyeds' final league game at Rochdale on August 15 and their anticipated first appearance in the Championship One play-offs on September 15, the game was originally planned to start at 12.45pm as a curtain-raiser to Leigh's home fixture with Dewsbury in the Championship.
Said Oldham chairman Chris Hamilton: "Leigh have now been told they can't have the Sports Village at the time we were going to play our game.
"We expect the RFL to ratify the switch to Whitebank and the change to Saturday, this because several members of the Leigh staff who will be coming with the team will also be required for first-team duty the next day."
Meanwhile, the supporters' association (ORSA) is staging a quiz night tomorrow at the Lyceum, Union Street, starting at 8pm. Admission £1. Top prize is £80.
