Scott Naylor: determined, but relaxed
OLDHAM will be at full strength in Sunday’s promotion-deciding play-off final against Rochdale Hornets.
Players who picked up minor knocks and bruises in the 64-8 semi-final hammering of London Skolars were able to train normally last night.
Coach Scott Naylor said: “Everybody is fit and looking forward to the big day. We won’t be killing ourselves in training this week. The emphasis will be on staying calm and relaxed. We don’t need to do anything differently. We’re getting ready for a game of rugby, just like we have all season.
“Come Sunday we’ll be relaxed but we’ll also be ready. That’s the key.”
Naylor won’t announce his line-up until the day before the game, but it’s unlikely to show much change. Rochdale didn’t play last weekend, and the rest was welcomed by coach Ian Talbot, who has fitness doubts over two of his most experienced players, Wayne English and Chris Hough.
Full-back English is reported to be struggling with a groin injury, while hooker Hough is battling for fitness after going off in the Oldham game with a suspected fractured rib.
THE Oldham team will set off from Whitebank for Leigh Sports Village at 11.30am on Sunday.
Fans are invited to turn up and see them off. The club will be open from 10am to noon. The club will re-open at approximately 5pm in time for the return to Whitebank of fans and team.
