‘Bold move’ as Oldham freeze admission prices

Date published: 22 November 2013

DESPITE a tough year financially, Oldham RL Club have pegged 2014 admission prices at last season’s levels.

Match-day and season ticket prices remain the same, both chairman Chris Hamilton (pictured) and head coach Scott Naylor hoping the decision will encourage fans to get behind the club.

“Season-ticket sales are vital for club finances, but they are also an indication of public confidence in what we are doing on the field and how we are striving to take the club forward,” said Naylor.

“We hope we gave fans value for money last season.

“We intend to give them even better value in the coming season.

SEASON TICKETS

There will be no Northern Rail Cup in 2014, but there will still be 10 home games covered by season tickets, the same as last year.

Roughyeds chairman Hamilton: “In financial terms we’ve had the toughest 12 months we’ve ever had, but we acknowledge that these are difficult times for everybody.

“By pegging prices — a bold move — we’ve done our best for supporters, whose loyalty is appreciated by everyone at the club, not least by myself, Scott (Naylor) and the players.

“Season-ticket sales are a vital source of income, especially at this time of year, and we hope many fans will take advantage of the savings they offer, bearing in mind how well the squad did last season and how committed the club is to do even better next time.

“We achieved a lot last season with the youngest team in the division.

“And we can look forward with confidence thanks to the quality of our coaching and backroom staff; the players we have retained; the new additions to the squad; and Scott’s declared intention to take training and team preparation to the next level.

“We are also working on bringing in more new players — and I’m confident that no team in the division will be as well prepared as Oldham."

Turnstile prices: adults, to stand £11, to sit £13; concessions (over-65s and students under 18 with valid ID), to stand £9, to sit £11; under-16s, to stand £3, to sit £5.

Season-tickets (these prices applicable until 5pm on Friday, December 20): standing, adults £100, concessions £80, under-16s £25; sitting, adults £115, concessions £100, under-16s £45.

The club is waiting for RFL confirmation that under-16s season-tickets will also include entry to away games, as has been the case in recent seasons.

Existing seat holders have until 5pm on Friday, December 6 to claim the same seats, after which they will go on general sale.

Letters and renewal forms are going out to everyone who had a season ticket for 2013, giving details of how to renew.

New buyers and existing ticket holders can apply by post (cheques payable to ORLFC) to Oldham RLFC, c/o Oasis Academy Oldham, Hollins Road, Oldham OL8 4JZ.

Alternatively, season tickets will be on sale (cheque or cash) at the refreshment van at the Whitebank ground between 11.30am and 1pm each Monday, Wednesday and Friday, starting this Monday, November 25 and ending Friday, December 20).
