Surgery fear for hooker Files

OLDHAM RL club’s young hooker Adam Files has been told he may need surgery on the knee he damaged in training last week.
He has had a scan and he now awaits further investigation by a consultant with a surgical camera, later this week or on Monday.
“We are naturally hoping for the best, but we won’t know the full extent of the damage and what needs to be done, until then,” said coach Scott Naylor.
Files (21) played in every Oldham game last year and scored 15 tries. He played in the first three matches this season before injury forced him out.
Loose-forward Liam Thompson, who has had an operation to repair a fractured eye socket, will also be out for several weeks, although centre David Cookson might be available by the middle of next month.
With a Kingstone Press Championship One bye this weekend and the Tetley’s Challenge Cup tie at Bradford the following Sunday, Naylor’s men don’t play another league game until Gateshead Thunder come to Whitebank on April 13.
Roughyeds are still waiting for confirmation from Bradford of ticket prices and other arrangements for the cup tie, which will be at the Provident Stadium (Odsal) on Sunday, April 6 (2pm).
