Getting better - but not perfect

AFTER a disappointing performance and result at Hunslet, followed by a two-week wait to put things right, the display in beating Oxford was much improved, but not perfect. There are still a few things that need fixing.
But we showed some really good signs, especially with the ball.
Our defence wasn’t good, but that can be easily sorted out. It is basic stuff.
The arrival of the two new lads, Nathan Mason and Steven Roper, has given the team a bit of a pick-me-up. It obviously means more competition for places, so everyone will now have to be at their very best on a Sunday and also during training to claim a spot.
I’m glad to have Nathan back. He was well-liked during his stint at the club last year and it is as though he has never been away. Steve has come from Rochdale and adds a lot of experience and depth to the halves.
Once again we have no game this weekend. It isn’t ideal, but we will make the most of it to fix a few things and sharpen up for our big game against York at Whitebank on Sunday week.
The Knights have had a good start to the season and turned over fancied Hunslet.
We are under no illusions as to how tough this game will be, but we are confident because, on our day, I believe we have the beating of anyone in this division.
