LIAM Thompson is back in full training with Oldham, 12 weeks since he suffered facial fractures in the first home game of the season,

The talented 22 year old might play half a game for the under-20s against the Royal Air Force at Whitebank on Saturday, but it’s more likely his return will come in the second team at Keighley on June 12.

The former England Schoolboys and Wigan Warriors academy loose-forward suffered three fractures to his eye socket and upper cheekbone.

Oldham coach Scott Naylor said: “The medical staff and Liam himself will decide when he is ready to play again, but it’s going to be sooner rather than later, probably next week.”

Adam Files, the other long-term injury victim, is due to have a scan on his damaged knee in the next few days.

Mo Agoro and Danny Langtree are rewarded for first-rate displays in Oldham’s 46-16 win against London Skolars with selection in the Kingstone Press Championship One team of the week.

Hunslet and Gateshead each have three players in the 13, Thunder’s trio including their two new signings, Lee Mapals from Hunslet and Louis Sheriff from Sheffield.
