Oldham sweat on quartet’s fitness

Date published: 18 July 2014

HOOKER Kenny Hughes is out of Oldham’s big game at York on Sunday — and four more players face late fitness checks.

Doubtful are Nathan Mason, Jon Ford, Mo Agoro and Ben Wood.

On-loan Mason, a full-time pro at Huddersfield Giants, damaged a stomach muscle while training with his parent club early in the week.

Ford has gone down with a chest complaint, while Agoro has a knee problem and Wood is having treatment for a leg injury.

On the flip side, George Tyson is expected to be fit after recovering from a back strain which affected his hamstrings and Danny Whitmore is free to play again after serving his one-match ban.

Hughes damaged an ankle near the end of last Sunday’s hefty win against Gloucester All Golds and will be forced to sit this one out.

Oldham coach Scott Naylor said: “We’ll look at how things are on Saturday morning and I’ll weigh up who’s available and who isn’t.

“New signing Adam Clay is available for selection if we need him , but he isn’t 100 per cent fit.”
