Palfrey: Chance to put things right

LEWIS Palfrey has welcomed the chance for his Oldham RL team to “put things right” in a tough game against Hunslet Hawks.

Speaking ahead of the second versus third clash at Whitebank on Sunday (3pm), and in the wake of that dreadful 54-12 thrashing at leaders York, the Roughyeds captain said there was no better time for testing themselves against the Hawks.

When they met at the South Leeds Stadium in April, Hawks won 38-12, but Oldham then went on a run of eight wins from nine games until they crashed from their pedestal big style at York.

Palfrey said: “Whenever Scott (head coach Naylor) has asked us for a big response in the past we've always delivered.

“Understandably in the circumstances, he has questioned our mental toughness and now we have a great opportunity to show him what we’re made of.

“York apart, we couldn’t get a tougher challenge than going had to head with Hunslet.

“I can’t speak for the other lads on this but, from a personal point of view, I was one very embarrassed captain walking off that pitch at York, and I don’t ever again want to experience anything like that.”
