Three-year tonic as Scott signs again as Oldham coach

SCOTT Naylor has ended speculation about his future by signing a new three-year deal with Oldham Rugby League Club.

His new contract covers the 2015-2017 seasons and is the longest ever offered a coach in the reformed Oldham club’s 17 years.

Contract talks have continued for several weeks, but Naylor said last night: “The conclusion was never in doubt.”

A delighted Hamilton added: “We always knew we would get to where we are tonight — a clear indication of the strength of our working relationship.”

Naylor (42), who played 128 Super League games for Bradford Bulls in their glory years, took on his first head coach’s job when he joined Oldham two years ago.

Said Hamilton: “We have developed a working relationship built on mutual trust, honesty and commitment. His new contract reflects the job he has done in his two seasons here. Nobody could have done more to get the best out of his players. Each season ended in grand final disappointment, but it was a huge achievement to reach those finals.

“There are big challenges ahead. The restructured League One next season is going to be even tougher than last season’s competition. But with the signings we have made and others we are going to make, we will have a squad capable, hopefully, of earning the success that everyone at Whitebank craves.”
