Daniels is doing the business

SCOTT Naylor has lauded the “excellent” work of the latest addition to his backroom team, Kane Daniels.

Daniels (23) succeeds Mike Hughes as Oldham RL Club’s head of strength and conditioning, while retaining his full-time job at Huddersfield Giants where he looks after the physical wellbeing of over 50 young players in the club’s academy.

Though his Whitebank appointment is a direct spin-off of Oldham’s dual-registration partnership with Huddersfield, Daniels will work part-time for the League One club on a contract negotiated with Roughyeds and paid by them.

Naylor said: “Kane has come to us with a Super League background and with new ideas and methods.

His gym and general conditioning sessions are very different to anything we’ve done previously. He’s very professional and everything he does with the squad is well organised and well run.

“I’ve seen a huge difference in the squad’s fitness levels during the time Kane has been with us.”

Said Kane: “At Oldham my brief is to help the club to win promotion - and to that end I want to see Roughyeds with the best physically-equipped squad in the division.”
