OLDHAM RL Club have re-signed the man coach Scott Naylor called “one of the main reasons we won promotion” - even though he didn’t play in a single game.

Kane Daniels (24) has been the Roughyeds’ fitness and conditioning expert and will stay in the role a the side moves up to the championship after signing a new one-year part-time deal. Since starting with Oldham Daniels has also earned promotion in his full-time job at Huddersfield Giants, as well appointment to a new role with England Youth.

Said Naylor: “Kane did a great job for us in his first year. He has signed a new deal and I feel we are extremely lucky to have him again. I’m looking forward to seeing what sort of shape the boys will be in when he has had them for a second pre-season.

“When he joined us last year a lot of his ideas were different, but the response he got was nothing short of outstanding. We were stronger, fitter and more robust than our opponents.”

“Like last season, I’ll be getting to as many Oldham sessions as I can, but at least every Thursday,” said Daniels. “Championship rugby will be even tougher, but in terms of fitness and physicality I think we can be right up there with the rest, although the full-time clubs will have an advantage.”
