Tom Ashton: injury blow
TOM Ashton and Adam Files have joined Phil Joy on Oldham’s doubtful list for the tough KP Championship game at Featherstone Rovers on Sunday.
Right centre Ashton, who has scored in each of Oldham’s last two games, didn’t train last night because of a knee problem. Hooker Files turned his ankle while training on Tuesday and is said to be doubtful.
There is better news of Joy, who trained last night after further treatment on his dead leg.
Said coach Scott Naylor: “Phil will be better for training. We’ll see how he is later, but I’m confident he will be okay to play.”
For the fourth game in a row there will be no dual-reg representation in the Roughyeds’ line-up.
Partner club Huddersfield Giants still have a big injury list which prevents them from sending players out.
Added Naylor: “As players return from injury over the next couple of weeks, the situation will be a lot better. We certainly hope to make use of dual-reg when circumstances allow.”
Naylor will name his line-up at training tomorrow after completing final checks on Joy, Ashton and Files.
“I’m 80 per cent there,” he said. “But, as ever, I like to keep a couple of options open until the final session of the week.”.
