Roughyeds wait on duo for Easter

DANNY Langtree and Danny Grimshaw face injury checks at training tomorrow as Oldham’s focus switches from the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup to the important matter of gathering league points.

Both players were forced from the field during the second half of yesterday’s 40-6 cup-tie victory over amateur team Kells.

While Roughyeds coach Scott Naylor hopes Langtree will be okay for this weekend’s Easter double-header against Halifax at home on Friday and Monday’s visit to Swinton, Grimshaw is more of a concern.

He explained: “Danny Langtree was more precautionary. He felt his hamstring tightening up. He stopped doing what he was doing immediately, which was good. Danny Grimshaw has an ankle problem he had at the beginning of the season.

“He went over on it again. We will have to see what he is like on it at training tomorrow. He could be a doubt with the next game only five days away.”

With three games coming up in a short a space of time, club skipper Lewis Palfrey and Will Hope were both rested.

Oldham definitely weren’t at their best in beating Kells, but the performance still carried them towards a potential money-spinning fifth-round clash against a Super League side. The draw takes place tomorrow at 6.30pm.

Roughyeds chairman Chris Hamilton said: “At the end of the day we’ve won comfortably. You’ve just to get these games out of the way.

“Obviously, we wanted to play better, but we scored 40 points and we only conceded one try, so we’re happy in that respect. We’re through to the next round and that’s all we can do.”
