Roughyeds trio in line to return

OLDHAM RL Club’s injury problems are easing with the possibility that Danny Langtree, Danny Grimshaw and Adam Files could all be available for the clash with Sheffield Eagles this weekeed.

Coached by Mark Aston and Keith Senior, Eagles come to Bower Fold on Sunday afternoon after scoring eight tries and putting 46 points on Bradford Bulls in a remarkable away performance.

Roughyeds, meanwhile, smashed Batley Bulldogs 28-12 despite having only 17 available players.

“To get anything out of the Sheffield game we’ll have to play just as well as we did against Batley,” said coach Scott Naylor, who confirmed Huddersfield Giants will again make players available to him.

“I’ll be speaking to (Giants coach) Paul Anderson, as I do every week, and we’ll decide the way forward best for both clubs.”

It remains to be seen whether Giants teenagers Liam Johnson and Tyler Dickinson will again be involved, after playing in each of the Roughyeds’ last three games.

Johnson (18), a back-row forward, filled-in at centre against Batley and scored Oldham’s second try, while Dickinson (19), replaced Jack Spencer as starting prop in the Batley game.

Naylor is also optimistic about the chances of Grimshaw, Langtree and Files throwing their hats into the selection ring.

Said Naylor: “They were all a bit under the weather at training last night, but they’ll be fine by weekend. The same goes for Grimshaw. It made sense not to play him against Batley, but it was precautionary more than anything. We expect Langtree to be okay as well, but we are looking at a few weeks off for Jon Ford and Jack Holmes.”
