Oldham RL 10, Warrington 70

AFTER a commendable first-half display, in which they took a shock 6-0 lead, Oldham's Ladbrokes Challenge Cup journey was finally ended by a rampant Warrington side.

The Super League high-fliers ran in 13 tries - nine in the second half - in front of 2,394 fans at a sun-drenched Bower Fold.

Michael Ward put the hosts, who knocked out Hull KR in the previous round, ahead from a short Gareth Owen pass. Lewis Palfrey converted.

Warrington levelled in the 17th minute through Chris Hill, with Kurt Gidley adding the goal.

It wasn't until the half-hour mark that the Wolves nosed in front, courtesy of Ben Jullien's touch down, after which the visitors took control.

Ben Currie and Rhys Evans tries, both converted, opened up a 22-6 lead for Warrington at the break.

With Oldham paying for their first-half efforts, the second period was dominated by Warrington. George King scored three tries in seven minutes, with Tom Lineham, Gene Ormsby (two), Currie, Morgan Smith and Jullien. Gidley and Stefan Ratchford landed the extras.

The Roughyeds did have the final say, though, as Owen dived in on the hooter.
