WE DID IT . . . Blue Coat's victorious team
IT was something of a final year 'decider' when Blue Coat Year 11s took on their Saddleworth counterparts in the Oldham Schools' rugby league cup final.
Of the two teams, Blue Coat had won the Years Seven and Nine finals in previous years, with Sadleworth triumphant in Years Eight and 10.
And it was Blue Coat who went on take the Year 11 crown thanks to a dramatic 24-22 victory.
Tom Wilde, from Blue Coat's PE department, said: "It was a terrific final and really exciting. Both teams deserve credit for the way they played, but I was particularly delighted for our lads as they came back to play one last time despite having already finished all their exams.
"It was a fitting end to their time at school."
Billy England (two), Tom Anchor and Matthew Lowe scored tries for Blue Coat, with Tom O'Brien adding four crucial conversions.
Sam Thackeray (two), Isaac Lowe (two) and Hayden Enziano went over for Saddleworth, with Josh Yarwood adding one conversion.
