Golden girl Jessica turns on the style

OLDHAM Aquatics swimmers had six podium finishes in the North West Regional Age Group Championships at Manchester Aquatics Centre.

And two of the medals were claimed in the 13-year age group by Jessica Lloyd, who claimed gold in the 100m freestyle before adding a bronze in the 100m backstroke.

Jessica also finished fourth and fifth respectively in the 200m backstroke and 400m freestyle.

Team-mate Vicky Garlick captured three bronzes in the 13-years 400m individual medley, 200m and 400m freestyle and was fourth in the 100m freestyle and seventh in the 200m backstroke.

Sister Samantha narrowly missed out on the medals, finishing fourth in the final of the 400m individual medley and sixth in the 100m breaststroke.

In the 13-years boys events, Harry Entwistle reached the finals of the 100m and 200m breaststroke.

Hannah Clegg reached three finals in the 12-years age group, the 100m breaststroke, 100m butterfly and 200m IM.

Jessica Fullalove won a silver in the 11-years 400m IM and also reached the finals of the 100m freestyle, 100m butterfly and 200m freestyle.

Team-mate Francesca Chiappe also made three finals, the 100m, 200m and 400m freestyle.

Finalists in the 10-years age group were Kyle Clegg (100m breaststroke), Caitlin Wareing (100m and 200m backstroke) and Olivia Askew (100m butterfly, 400m freestyle, 100m backstroke and 200m freestyle).




AQUATICS swimmers were also among the medals in the Harrogate ‘B’ Grade Meet.

Isaac Doxey took pride of place, winning gold in the 11/12-years 50m freestyle, silvers in the 50m, 100m, 200m backstroke and 100m IM.

Team-mate James Salt struck gold in the 50m breaststroke and 200m backstroke.

And James Lait picked up a silver in the 200m butterfly and bronze in the 100m IM.

In the girls 11/12 age group, Danielle Green won silver in the 100m breaststroke and bronze in the 100m IM. Team-mates Nicola Farrell and Isabelle Chadderton were joint silver medal winners in the 50m backstroke.

Joe Griffin claimed a silver in the 9/10 years 100m IM and team-mate Kyle Clegg collected bronze in the 200m butterfly.

Jack Slater won silver in the 13-years 50m and 200m backstroke and a bronze in the 200m butterfly.

Silvers also went to Damien Bradley (50m butterfly) and Harry Entwistle (100m backstroke).

For the girls in this age group, Rebecca Driver won gold in the 100m IM and 200m freestyle, Chloe Basnett was a double bronze winner in the 50m and 200m breaststroke and Holly Bradbury was third in the 200m freestyle.

Vicky Burgess was a double gold winner in the 15 years and over 50m and 200m butterfly adding a silver in the 50m backstroke.
