Chaddy sights

Date published: 21 January 2009

CHADDY End FC are setting their sights on Manchester County Cup glory on two fronts.

The under-15s booked their ticket for the quarter-finals after a 3-0 win over Brendon Bees. Curtis Ingham (two) and Tom Proctor were on target.

Tom Maloney and Sam Haran struck for the under-12s, who defeated Waterloo 2-0 to clinch a place in the last eight.

CHADDERTON FC Juniors under-12s are through to the quarter-finals.

Inspired by James Tulley’s four-goal salvo, they enjoyed a 9-3 success over Moston Juniors.

Reece Mellor, Bradley Humphreys, Liam Eadsforth, Shaun Middleton and Paul Mullen were also on the scoresheet.

BOUNDARY Park Juniors under-11s can also look forward to a last-eight tie after they defeated a good Delamere Rangers side 4-3.

Jack Etchells (two), Keenan Roddy Webb and Calum Stansfield collected the goals.

CONNOR Gooseman put Springhead under-13s ahead against Droylsden Panthers, but their hopes of County Cup success were dashed in extra time.

Panthers equalised in the second half of the fourth round tie, before going on to clinch a 2-1 win with a penalty shoot-out looming.

League’s bid to beat frost

THE Rochdale and Oldham Youth League are looking at relaxing a strict morning-only kick-off rule in a bid to stem the tide of postponed games.

League chairman Bridget Meehan said the management committee will look favourably on games kicking off slightly later in frosty situations if it means getting them played.

The league have suffered wholesale postponements, they are hundreds of games behind schedule, and are looking at a packed midweek programme at the end of the season with some teams having played as few as four league games so far.

The management committee says it will also sanction games on 3G and will be contacting local councils to ensure posts stay up as late as possible where practical.Ingham’s efforts in vain for under-15s

OLDHAM Schools under-15s surrendered a two-goal lead as they slumped to their fifth Greater Manchester Schools’ League defeat of the season.

A double strike from Curtis Ingham (Kaskenmoor) put the town team on course for maximum points, but title-chasing Salford roared back to run out 4-2 winners at the Lancaster Club.

The visitors hit a purple patch approaching the hour mark, stunning Oldham with a three-goal blast.

The home side were shell-shocked and Salford piled on the misery with a fourth goal 10 minutes from time.

Manchester Youth League

JOE LAYCOCK weighed in with a hat-trick and Tom Bailey got the other as Broadway Celtic under-11s swept aside Phoenix Athletic 4-1 in the Manchester Youth League.

CHADDY End FC under-11s, with Riley Hamill, Tom Nuttall and an own goal making up the tally, recorded a 3-0 win over Northside ‘A’.

THREE goals in the opening 20 minutes set 3D Dynamos under-11s on their way to a 6-2 win over Clayton Villa.

Sean Murray (two), Ellis Forshaw, Remi Morris, Tom Waring and Luke Midgley were on target for 3D.

A hat-trick from Jack Johnson, a Lewis Wood double and an Adam Crossman effort clinched a 6-3 win over Littleborough in the last eight of the competition.

SPRINGHEAD under-12s made a sensational start to the New Year.

They brushed aside Shawclough 9-1 in the last eight of the League Cup.

The tie was all over at half-time after a Jordan Boland hat-trick, plus other goals from Tom Travis, Toby Ferguson, Jack Lent and defender Dominic Shaw saw Springhead lead 7-1.

Lent went on to complete his treble and it would have been more but for the efforts of the Shawclough ’keeper.

MATTY Singleton (two), Jake Green and Matthew Crothers got the goals as Chaddy End FC under-14s defeated Rochdale St Clements 4-1.

HEYSIDE Juniors under-13s let slip a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 at Chadderton FC Juniors.

Goals from Joe Gledhill and Lewis Tucker put Heyside in control at half-time, but it was a different story after the break as Chadderton scored twice in the dying minutes to claim an unlikely win.

North Bury Junior League

CHADDY Hoppers suffered mixed fortunes in the North Bury Junior League.

Under-12s Red had a Dan Javed double strike to thank for a hard-fought 2-1 win over Seedfield in the Subsidiary Cup.

But under-12s Blue were beaten 4-3 by Middleton Boys in the last eight of the Main Cup.

Hoppers took an early lead, but found themselves trailing 3-1 with five minutes to go.

However, they never gave up and two last-gasp goals forced extra time.

Hoppers had strong appeals for a penalty turned down, before Middleton broke away late on to clinch a 4-3 win.

Dan Radcliffe, Zac Douglas and Josh Lindsay scored for Hoppers in an enthralling match.
The under-13s were drawing 2-2 at half-time against Marauder Mantas, but ended up losing 6-4.

Tameside and District Junior Football League

UNBEATEN Chadderton FC Juniors under-15s had to come from behind to defeat Denton Phoenix 4-1 and stay top of the Tameside and District Junior League.

Trailing at the half-way point to a well-organised outfit, they bounced back through goals from Jack Beasley, Tom Shaw and Mike Taylor (two).

SAM Wicks netted the consolation goal as Oldham Junior Boys under-13s went down 3-1 to 3D Dynamos.

IT was a disappointing day for Uppermill FC.

The under-13s succumbed 12-0 to Manchester Maccabi, Luke Cosgrove scored the consolation goal as under-14s lost 3-1 to Harpurhey United at Churchill playing fields — they were leading 1-0 at half-time — and the under-15s lost 6-1 to Dukinfield Youth. Phil Klich scored for ’Mill.

East Manchester Junior League

AVRO Juniors under-13s were again too good for a more dogged Delamere outfit in the East Manchester Junior League — seven days after they had blown them away in the County Cup.

A Dan Bright header and a Jack Rafferty strike — both goals coming in the second half — did the damage in a 2-0 win.

Other results and scorers are —
