Jessica’s birthday treat

JESSICA LLOYD had a 14th birthday to remember as she swam for England schools in the home internationals at Swansea.

The year nine pupil from Saddleworth School, a member of OCL’s Advanced Training Squad, helped England triumph against Wales, Ireland and Scotland.

Jessica, who swims for Oldham Aquatics and Saddleworth, finished runner-up in both her individual events, the 100m backstroke (1min 07.33sec) and 100m freestyle (1:00.24).

She was also a member of the winning medley and freestyle relay teams.

Jessica, George Harrington and Blake Wilson competed for Aquatics in the British Championships at Ponds Forge, Sheffield.

Jessica swam in the 100m backstroke (1:08.61), 50m freestyle (28.02), 100m freestyle (59.58) and 200m backstroke (2:25.91).

George, who also swims for Saddleworth, had a season’s best time of 58.37 in the 100m butterfly.

Blake, who swims for Oldham ASC, set a personal-best time of 1:07.50 in the 100m breaststroke and also competed in the 200m (2:32.89).

n VICKI GARLICK won four county titles for Oldham Aquatics at the Lancashire Championships.

Her victories, at Manchester Aquatics Centre, were in the 200m, 400m, 800m and 1500m freestyle.

There were also county titles for Kyle Clegg (200m breaststroke), George Harrington (100m fly), Jamie Popelier (50m freestyle) and Rhiannon Prestage (100m freestyle).

Silver medals: Chloe Basnett (50m and 100m breaststroke), Hannah Clegg (200m IM), Kyle Clegg (50m breaststroke), Sophie Kenny (50m fly), Jessica Lloyd (50m free), Ashley Ratchford (50m fly) and Blake Wilson (50m free).

Bronze medals: Charlotte Ashworth (200m free), Chloe Basnett (100m breaststroke), Jessica Fullalove (50m and 100m free), Samantha Garlick (100m fly), Sophie Kenny (200m fly), Jessica Lloyd (200m backstroke), George Morreal (50m, 100m and 200m backstroke), Jamie Popelier (50m fly, 100m breaststroke) and Blake Wilson (50m, 100m breaststroke).
