A TRIO of local youngsters have been named in the Lancashire squads to represent the county for the coming season.
James Howard (Saddleworth School and Saddleworth CC) has again been named in the under-14 county team and will be on duty tomorrow when Lancashire take on Nottinghamshire in a challenge match at Radcliffe-on-Trent CC.
School-mate Nathan Jones, who hones his skills at Delph CC, has been named in the under-14 development squad and was in action yesterday when the Lancashire team took on North East Wales at Northop Hall CC.
Lower down the age scale, Delph’s Alex Selby has been named in the Lancashire County under-10s squad. Alex, who attends Hulme Grammar School, has a busy time ahead with Lancashire hitting the road to take part in the under-10 County Festival at Kings College, Taunton, this weekend.
Lancashire open their festival programme on Saturday with a match against Buckinghamshire, before facing Devon and Surrey on the following couple of days.
Meanwhile, Crompton House School Year Eights failed to make it through to the semi-finals of the Lancashire Schools’ Cricket Association John Heaton Memorial Trophy after going down to Woodhey High School (Bury) in their quarter-final clash.
