CLOSE RUN: SADDLEWORTH School’s cricket boys won by one wicket
SADDLEWORTH School’s Year Seven cricket team defeated Crompton House by just one wicket in an exciting Oldham Schools’ final staged at Heyside Cricket Club.
Having been set a target of 104, the Saddleworth side edged their way towards the required total with some astute batting.
Adam Howarth scored 17 runs before being bowled out, Joe Ireland was run out on 15 and Guy Hughes registered a quickfire 19.
It was then left to Jake Hill to calmly stroke home the winning runs with eight balls to spare.
Jake was unbeaten on 16 runs and his fine bowling led to him securing the prestigious man-of-the-match award.
