ROWING:
SHAW starlet Hannah Lowe has been crowned the English indoor rowing champion after winning the women’s junior 13 age group title at the Manchester Velodrome.
Hannah, a member of Hollingworth Lake Rowing Club, was part of a clean sweep of medals in the WJ13 category by the club’s juniors: Sally Tisdall took silver and Molly Archbold bronze.
Indoor rowing is growing in popularity nationally, especially at schools level. Hannah, a pupil at Newman College, won the Oldham Schools’ indoor rowing competition last year and later won the Greater Manchester Schools’ title at Robin Park, Wigan.
Hannah took up rowing on Hollingworth Lake 18 months ago, inspired by the success of the 2012 British Olympic team. Since then, she and her sculling doubles partner Molly are undefeated in their age groups
Hannah and Molly will represent the region at the junior inter-regional regatta at Nottingham next month.
