Hawks seal double joy

HANDBALL: THE North-East Manchester Hawks under-18 girls’ team added the England Handball Association Cup to their earlier league successes for the season.

Competing at the Copper Box Arena at the Olympic Park in London, the Hawks beat Olympic Cannock 21-11 in the final.

Two Oldham girls were in the squad — Lucy-Anne Ready from Saddleworth School and Niamh Boulton from Royton and Crompton HS. Boulton rounded off the scoring late in the game, delighting her dad in New Zealand who was watching live on the internet.
