FOOTBALL-MAD youngsters have been given a £600 boost, thanks to Oldham Metro Rotary Club.
President John Walkden visited SportsDirect.com Park to present the donation to Oldham Athletic Community Trust.
The money will allow the Trust to buy vital new equipment — including 40 futsals, a type of ball — for the coming year which will be used on a variety of projects.
Martin Vose, OACT participation manager, said: “It’s a fantastic gesture from the Oldham Metro Rotary Club to help us purchase new futsals.
“As a registered charity we always welcome the support of local businesses, with all money received going straight back into the community.”
Futsal is one of the fastest-growing sports around the world and is growing in popularity in Oldham.
It is played with a smaller and heavier ball, with an emphasis on tricks and skills.
OACT’s futsal sessions focus on individuality, with each child receiving hundreds of touches of a futsal per session.
The Trust delivers futsal sessions during term time at local primary schools as well as an evening community football training programme.
