Ton-up Daniel is a record-breaker

MAYFIELD Primary School’s Daniel Stock became the youngest player in the history of Oldham District Cricket to score a century in their game against Bradford.

Daniel, who has scored more than 50 three times already this season, smashed a massive 123 not out before retiring with 10 overs remaining. He hit 21 fours and faced just 89 balls in the under-11s clash.

Eleven-year-old Daniel, who plays for Glodwick Cricket Club, was selected for Lancashire in both 2014 and 2015, mainly for his bowling.

He beat the previous highest score for an Oldham District under-11 player, passing Nathan Jones’ 68 not out in a game against Wigan District in 2009.

Daniel also managed to surpass the highest score by an Oldham District player, passing the previous two centurions – James Howard’s 114 versus Salford under-13s in 2013 and Ross Zelem’s 101, also for the under-13s, versus Tameside in 2008.

His knock is also now the second-highest ever in the whole seven-year-old District team set-up.
