TWO athletes from Oldham will chase glory at the Sainsbury’s 2015 School Games in Manchester from Thursday.

Taking part in the games are Oldham wheelchair racer and Saddleworth School pupil Catherine Stott (15) and Oldham table tennis ace James Chappell (16), an Oasis Academy pupil.

The rising sports stars are among 1,600 youngsters taking part in this year’s games and will compete across 12 sports, seven of them disability disciplines, at the four-day spectacular.

The two athletes will hope to follow the success of some of Britain’s biggest sporting stars including Paralympic champions Hannah Cockroft, Ellie Simmonds and Jonnie Peacock, world-record breaking swimmer Adam Peaty, heptathlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson, World Junior Champion heptathlete and high jumper Morgan Lake and sprinter Adam Gemili, who all competed at the Games before going on to elite success with Team GB and Paralympics GB.
