Shaw romp to Shield repeat

HOLDERS Shaw ‘A’ retained the under-15s Leicester Shield with an emphatic eight-wicket win over Austerlands at Thorpe Lane.

The damage was done by man-of-the-match Drew Fullalove, who returned excellent figures of five for 16 from eight overs.

Fullalove and Jack Poxon soon had Austerlands in trouble.

The home side, who had elected to take first guard, were reduced to 10 for five, before late resistance from Caimen Stevenson (10) and Oliver Monaghan (13) lifted them to 62 all out in 25 overs.

Shaw were quickly out of the blocks in reply, with Tom Needham-Barton (six) and Tom Rowlands (17) adding 31 for the first wicket.

The pair were dismissed by Luke Ellis, and it was left to Elliott Birtwistle (16) and Joe Burgoyne (12) to steer Shaw past the post inside 15 overs.
