THE heat was on when young cooks took on the clock in Hulme Grammar School's annual "MasterChef" competition.
Charlotte Atherton (12) was the winner with her two-course meal of beef Wellington followed by sweet tarts topped with spun sugar.
A total of 45 hopefuls from years 7 to 13 took part in the competition, with 12 getting through the heats.
The final was judged by celebrity chef Andrew Nutter and pupils had just 50 minutes to create a main course and a dessert.
Charlotte won vouchers for a meal and a tour of the kitchen at Andrew Nutter's restaurant in Rochdale.
