All about the Knowledge

Date published: 07 October 2014

THE KNOWLEDGE is the Chronicle's bright, unstuffy look at education throughout the borough.

Six times a year our stand-alone education magazine explores what local schools, academies and higher institutions are doing to make the lives of our children better and more informed for the 21st century.

We look at changes and reforms in national education and how they affect thousands of Oldham students; we reveal some of the fascinating new ways schools are giving youngsters the world of knowledge, and we explore stories of students and their interactions in the wider world, from university to foreign visits and exciting national, sometimes international projects.

In recent issues we have talked about everything from cupcakes to award-winning, locally-developed educational software, sports successes and academic summer placements, driving simulators and even joint craft sessions for school students and hospice residents and staff.

We have written about school governors and organising graduation ceremonies with superstar guests, Oldham's bright new college buildings and their part in modern education, and school trips to investigate the horrors of Auschwitz and World War One tranches.

We talk to Oldham students making their way at Oxbridge and the red brick universities, we get the story direct from participants of their political aspirations and interests, hear of great business ideas being developed by students while they are still at school, and reveal with great pictures some of the dozens of creative and science-based projects taking place in our schools every year.

Oldham education in all its forms makes The Knowledge a great read - even if you don't have a child at school in the borough.

It shows readers that Oldham education in the 21st century is vivid, enthusiastic and focused on making life better for pupils both now and in their working futures.

Read every issue to understand just how hard local education works to make our children's future brighter and better.
