Emotional farewell for Holy Rosary head teacher

Date published: 17 July 2015

AFTER 26 years at a Fitton Hill primary school — 19 as head teacher — Barbara Morris today said an emotional goodbye.

On her final day in charge of Holy Rosary RC Primary, Fitton Hill, Mrs Morris admitted she had mixed feelings about her retirement.

Mrs Morris said: “The last week has been emotional. I’m both nervous and excited about retirement and I will be sorry to leave.”

After dedicating so many years to the school Mrs Morris thanked all those who had played their part during her happy career.

Nurturing

“Over the past 26 years I have seen many changes in education, how schools are governed and how they are funded, but what stands out in my memory is the unwavering support and commitment for our children from the staff, governors and parents,” she said.

Mrs Morris said: “Our school is not just a place for learning facts and figures, it’s a nurturing place that teaches love and faith, being a good citizen and above all respect for faiths, beliefs and cultures and as I retire I am very proud to have been a part of the Holy Rosary community.”

She now plans to take life at a slower pace but will take on some part-time work in education, but she is also looking forward to being able to enjoy having a holiday during term time.
