Nursery turnabout just amazing

NEW owners have transformed an Oldham nursery from “inadequate” to “outstanding” in a year, according to Ofsted.

Simon’s House nursery and pre school on Ashton Road has received the glowing report from education watchdog Ofsted after only 12 months in operation. The report refers to the management team as “inspirational” and says the staff are “highly motivated” with a “strong drive for the pursuit of excellence”.

Formerly Vale Nursery, its last Ofsted inspection in May 2014 judged it “Inadequate”. Taken over by new owners and renamed Simon’s House, the nursery has been transformed. Inspectors found the quality of teaching “outstanding”, with disabled children and those with special needs being supported “extremely well by a knowledgeable and committed team.”

The report says: “Staff are superb teachers and motivate children to become highly independent. Children make excellent progress in all areas.”

Owner Victoria Burke said: “We’re really happy with the report. I have worked within child care for a long time so I know how wonderful it is to do what we have done in the last 12 months.”
