BIRTHDAYS are always special - but even more so when they come on February 29
Oasis Academy Oldham made sure teacher Jessica Parker and students Georgia and Lauren Child celebrated their birthdays in style on Monday.
Computing and ICT teacher Mrs Parker (32), who celebrated only her eighth official birthday on Leap Day, was treated to presents, cards and cakes from her department, alongside birthday balloons featuring the number eight.
She said: “I usually celebrate on the 28th. The funniest thing is telling students I only have a birthday every four years. Their first question is always if I get presents when it’s not my real birthday”.
Year 11 twins Georgia and Lauren celebrated their 16th birthdays on February 29 too.
They were given a card signed personally by the principal and spent the evening having a special birthday meal with their family
