YOUNG people with disabilities have been trying a variety of sports in a special roadshow event at local schools.

Oldham Council’s sport development team’s Ability Roadshow for youngsters with disabilities and additional needs in mainstream schools shows them opportunities on offer in schools and community sports clubs.

Over the week more than 50 schools — including Oldham Academy North, Newbridge School, Radclyffe School and Hathershaw College — and 300 youngsters aged 8-13 took part in activities such as football, tennis, Thai boxing and wheelchair basketball. Participants were also given information on community clubs.
