SCIENCE boffins in Oldham are busy preparing for next month's celebration of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subjects.
They will be among 175 schools across Greater Manchester taking part in the Great Science Share, which takes place on Wednesday, July 6.
One of the flagship events of Greater Manchester's European City of Science programme, the Great Science Share will be a day for young people of all ages to share what they enjoy about science.
On the day schools will be encouraged to share their experiences with neighbouring schools and local communities as well as online using #scienceshare.
There will also be special Great Science Share takeover events where schools come together at Manchester Town Hall and the Museum of Science and Industry.
The Great Science Share will kickstart a bumper month of science engagement across Greater Manchester with Science in the City taking place from July 22-29, incorporating over 40 free pop-up events.
Daniele Atkinson, the University of Manchester's social responsibility manager, said: "Science, technology and engineering can seem like intimidating subjects to some, so the Great Science Share is a way of demonstrating to the next generation that they are exciting and fun subjects to study, which have the potential to change the world."
