Heffron sets sights on title tilt after stop-start career

MARK Heffron is firing on all cylinders again in the boxing ring and is already eyeing a title fight in the new year.

Since turning professional back in 2010, it's been a stop-start career in the paid ranks for heavy-handed Heffron, who is still only 25.

His record is exemplary, with 12 wins from 12 fights, 10 of those coming inside the distance.

There have been issues outside of boxing, though, with Heffron four times going a year without a competitive fight.

However, now being trained by Pat Barrett in Middleton, Heffron has secured a British boxing license again and has an enthusiastic new agent in Paddy Coakley.

Heffron stopped Hungarian tough guy Attila Tibor Nagy on his latest return on Saturday, November 5, and tomorrow he takes on Spanish super-middleweight hopeful Michael Mora at the Fusion Club in Liverpool.

Coakley said: "Mark is back on his game again now.

"He's determined to get his boxing career on track again, and providing everything goes as planned against Mora, a title fight is what we'll be after early next year."
