TWO late goals earned Moorside a precious point in their push for promotion in Division Three of the Huddersfield and District League at Crompton Cricket Club.

Dynamos' Danny Laithwaite was on hand just past the five-minute mark to turn in a Kyle Moore flag-kick with his chest, before Kane George netted with a six-yards header from a Moore free-kick ten minutes before the break.

Laithwaite and sub Dom Shiels saw second half efforts denied by Moorside goalkeeper Reece Taylor as Dynamos sought to press home their advantage.

When Moorside's Lord was sent-off for a second yellow card offence with fifteen minutes to go, it seemed that Dynamos were well on course for a vital three points. But Stephen Grimshaw had other ideas as he waltzed past three defenders before firing home to give Moorside a lifeline four minutes later.

FLICKED
With the seconds ticking away, Moorside earned a deserved point when substitute Tom Walsh's long throw-in was flicked on by Lee Rowbotham for 21-goal leading marksman Connor Grimsley - also on as a sub - to sweep the ball home from close range.

Moorside manager Lee Warburton said: "It wasn't our best performance and it was a case of two points lost for us."

Dynamos manager Steve Laithwaite said: "I am disappointed not to win but they are a very good side. We needed to win this one but after the poor run we've been on it was a good result.

"We knew how Moorside were going to play so we set up with a 4-2-3-1 formation with a plan to hit them on the break, but as it happened our two goals came from set pieces.

"A lapse in concentration at the back allowed Moorside to get one back and then in injury time they got the better of a goalmouth scramble to equalise."

Moorside sit second in Division Three, six points behind leaders Almondbury Woolpack but with two games in hand and with a superior goal difference of six.
