TOUCH DOWN . . . Pete Jackson puts Hollinwood on the board
HOLLINWOOD brought down the curtain on their Pennine League Division Two campaign with a 44-8 defeat at the hands of title hopefuls Newsome Panthers at Fields New Road.
Able to name a full contingent of players for the first time in many weeks, the hosts showed up well against the high-fliers from Huddersfield.
Pete Jackson and Pete Davies, who made a series of elusive breaks, scored Hollinwood's points with a try in each half.
Ashley Dixon also stood out with several purposeful runs, until leaving the field with Tom Wilson after a serious clash of heads as they went in for a tackle.
Such was the level of performance, Hollinwood would have surely finished higher up the table if they had 17 or 18 players available every weekend.
It was coach Mark Johnson's final game in charge and Hollinwood officials thanked him for his hard work in often trying circumstances.
Hollinwood are on the look out for coaches to aid the youth section. For more details, call Fred Halliwell on 07786 468833.
