Harriers make a splash

MARK Oliver, of Oldham and Royton Harriers, produced a strong run in the Oldham Way Ultra over 40 miles.
Conditions were atrocious with mud flying about and torrential rain most of the day.
Digging deep, Oliver came home in 11 hours 15 minutes and four seconds.
Donna Gardner and John Felton, in their first Ultra test, also had excellent runs to cross the line in 11:38:34.
All three runners had trained over different sections of the route, but never in conditions where water running off the hills left the paths looking like rivers.
On firmer ground at the Wilmslow Half Marathon but still coping with the rain, Tony Muir set a new half marathon best time of 1:19:03. He was followed by Michael Manning's in his best time of 1:20:38.
GOOD RUN
Phil Hudson (1:27:07) had a good run as part of his preparation for the Manchester Marathon, with Sara Bott (1:59:15), Gail Corrigan (1:59:50) and Paul Corrigan (2:21:37) following on.
At the Chadderton Hall parkrun, Ian Jackson was second in 21:17, with Maria Wall first woman home in 25:37. Next for Harriers were Jake Jackson (31:51), Vicky Corrigan (47:20) and Karen Stuttard (55:23), who volunteered as back marker.
In Alexandra Park for the Oldham parkrun, Owen Flage took third place in 18:52, followed by Angie Hart (27:15) and Sara Bott (27:18), while Harrison Cooper (9:32), Jake Jackson (9:38) and Matthew Cooper (9:55) ran well in the junior parkrun.
Anne-Marie Lord (24:09) was second woman to cross the line in the Stamford Park event, and at Worsley Woods Julie Felton finished in 27:33 and Donna Gardner 28:00.
