THE Oldham Boxing and Personal Development Centre is staging its annual gala boxing night on Saturday, May 20, at the Oldham Leisure Centre.

Billed as 'Oldham's Best vs The Rest', the night will see boxers from the Greaves Street club take on all-comers from across the North-West and a group from the Spanish-based Cuban team, who will also be jetting in for the night.

Topping the bill is Great Britain star Will Cawley - fresh from his European medal success - who will boxing on his home-town show for the first time in three years.

Chief support will come from Aqib Tyson Fiaz, who will be defending his English title at 60kg.

As well as promising action-packed bouts featuring the likes of Oldham starlet Perry King and others, there will also be some special appearances, including one from WBO world champion Terry Flanagan.

Eric Noi, head coach at OBPDC, said: "We've got some promising boxers at the gym and it's good they'll be able to showcase their skills at Oldham Leisure Centre, which is a perfect venue for boxing.

"Hopefully they'll put on a great show and put on some performances that the town can be proud of.

"This year is the 10th anniversary of OBPDC so the night promises to be a celebration of what we have achieved, not just in the ring, but also outside it in terms of helping local residents better themselves."

Tickets for the event are priced £15 and £10. You can also pay on the door.

Doors open at 7pm, with the first bout at 8pm.

To book your tickets, call 0161 628 8466 or call at the gym on Greaves Street, Oldham, OL1 1QN.
