DANNY Wright is looking forward to putting on a show both for his fans at ringside and those watching on TV when he returns to action on Friday, May 19.

Failsworth welterweight prospect Wright (20) has signed a contract with dedicated pay TV channel BoxNation, and his bout at the Bolton Whites Hotel at Bolton Wanderers' football stadium in a fortnight will be screened live to armchair fans up and down the country.

He said: "This is quite a big step, and it'll be a good experience knowing that lots more people outside the venue will be tuning in.

"I don't see this as putting any further pressure on - to be honest I put enough pressure on myself every time I prepare to get in the ring.

"I just want to make sure that I put on a good show for what will be another very important fight."

Former international amateur star Wright will look to extend his perfect record in the professional ranks to four wins from four at the latest big VIP Boxing promotion - topped by Middleton ace Zelfa Barrett.

The man himself believes he is making steady progress under the tutelage of Ben Lancaster at his Middleton-based gym.

"All I can do is just keep working hard and look to get better and better with each fight," said Wright.

"We've worked on a few new things since my last fight (when Wright out-pointed Nathan Hardy in Wigan on March 24).

"I've known all along that I need to adapt my style to that of the pros.

"Basically I need to make it all easier for myself to really put on an explosive show."

Wright should find out who his next opponent will be next week.

The hot boxing prospect is still on the lookout for potential new sponsors as he continues to work his way up the British rankings.

Meanwhile, Delph's Andy Kremner is also on the May 19 card at Bolton as he bids to get his pro career back on track after 18 months out due to a number of different injuries.

Kremner (24), who boasts a perfect record of six wins from six welterweight fights, will be hopeful of making a good impression having recently switched trainers from John Murray to Matthew Hatton.

More from Kremner in the Chronicle next week.
