Ton-up Tasawaar is star of the show for Leefields men

AYAZ Tasawaar ripped into the Micklehurst bowling as Uppermill rattled up 331 for six in the Pennine Cricket League Championship on Saturday.

The Pakistani professional smashed 12 fours and 11 sixes in a season's best so far of 139 at Leefields. He put on 176 for the third wicket alongside Michael Brooks (57).

Micklehurst were dismissed for 124, with Tasawaar, skipper Andrew Jones and Mark Lees each bagging two wickets and James Baron three.

While Middleton were beating Shaw to maintain top spot - see other story - Milnrow climbed up to second place with a comfortable 85-run win over Werneth at The Coppice.

While Alex Willis and Lee Crabtree scored 70 and 45 respectively, Saeed Anwar Jnr put together an unbeaten 102 as the Ladyhouse outfit amassed 243 for four.

Friarmere bagged their first win in the league at the fourth time of asking with a 46-run defeat of Ashton at Slack Lane.

Saiman Ghouri had a good day with the gloves as Hollinwood overcame Oldham by six wickets at The Pollards.

The wicketkeeper held five catches as the home side were dismissed for 85.

Moorside beat Royton by 10 runs in a low-scoring encounter at The Paddock.

Paid man Gerrie Snyman held the visitors' batting together with 86 from 90 balls - he hit 13 fours and a six - in a total of 142.

It was then over to spinner Imran Khan, who bagged five for 25 in Royton's reply.

Pro Chirag Khurana made 62, before falling to overseas amateur Ruan Havenga.
