BOXER Jon Kays has revealed that he has "given it everything" when preparing for tomorrow's crunch Commonwealth super-featherweight title clash against Barnsley's Andy Townend at Sheffield United's Bramall Lane football stadium.

Hurst Cross battler Kays, who turned 34 on Wednesday, has previously admitted that this could be his one remaining chance to win a major title, but he is in a good place physically and mentally. He is determined to bring the belt home.

PREPARING

Kays said: "I've given my absolute life to preparing for this fight over the past 10 weeks.

"I've given it everything.

"I've worked so hard in getting myself right for tomorrow, and I'm there now.

"I've even visualised in my mind what it's going to be like when I win. That is the only thing I can see happening now."

Former amateur star Kays has enjoyed a largely successful 10-year professional career so far.

He is a former English champion and British and Commonwealth title challenger.

He boasts an impressive record of 22 wins and just five defeats in a 28-bout career in the paid ranks.

"It is now or never for me at my age," said Kays.

"I know I've not got time on my side, therefore I know full well I've just got to do it tomorrow.

"It's great being part of a big televised Eddie Hearn show, but to be honest I've not really thought about where it is and who might be topping the bill.

"All I'm concerned about is me and Andy Townend getting in that ring and me coming out the winner.

"I'll give it my best shot as I always do, but if that's not enough in the end, then I'll take that on the chin and sit back after the event and see where I go from there."

Kays features on the undercard of a massive night of championship boxing at Bramall Lane.

Local hero Kell Brook tops the bill as he takes on Errol Spence with the IBF world welterweight belt on the line.

Super-middleweight star George Groves will go in against Fedor Chudinov for the WBA Super World title, while heavyweights David Allen and Lenroy Thomas go head-to-head for the Commonwealth strap.
