HEYSIDE will look to add an eighth Tanner Cup to their roll of honour following an emphatic seven-wicket win over Friarmere at Little Hey Street.

Ryan Barnes' side will face Norden in the final after the Woodhouse Lane club defeated by Stayley by 82 runs.

Premiership boys Heyside were favourites to see off their second-tier opponents and were always in command.

Friarmere slumped to 77 all out in 31.5 overs, with Declan Wilkinson (pictured) taking four for 24 and Scott Bloor three for 26.

Heyside lost three wickets in chasing down the meagre target. Wilkinson was unbeaten on 29.

With Bilal Khiljee at home in Pakistan visiting his father who is intensive care after undergoing a serious operation, the league gave permission, on compassionate grounds, for Heyside to field a deputy professional.

Rameez Alam was brought over for Northern Ireland, where he plays for the Ardmore club. The Pakistani bagged one for 13 from his six overs and was out third ball for a duck.

Meanwhile, a fine all-round batting display laid a solid base for Norden's victory over Premiership rivals Stayley at home.

Ashley Gowers was the chief contributor with 72, but there were other decent knocks, including 42 from Naveed Zamurad and a handful of 20s in a total of 238 for seven.

Skipper Peter Skuse bowled 10, tight overs for 33 runs and claimed the wicket of Harvey Fittom.

Stayley were four down with 50 runs on the board in reply. Overseas amateur Dylan McLachlan was one of the wickets to fall.

Dave Roberts, at No.6, struck 39, but his 47-ball cameo was in vain as the visitors were dismissed for 156. Simon North, the fifth bowler used by Norden, took four for 31 in his 10-over spell.

Heyside and Norden will toss a coin to decide which club hosts the final on Sunday, August 13.
