Moore ton boosts Heyside

A RAPID century from Stuart Moore helped Heyside clinch a place in the 2010 Thwaites LCB Cup — but it was agony for opponents Glodwick on the final day of the Armstrongs Office Furniture Saddleworth and District Cricket League season.
The Little Hey Street lads, who lifted the Twenty20 Cup only three days earlier, pipped Nigel Stock’s side to a top-five finish by virtue of more outright wins — 10-8 — after both teams ended on identical points.
Number seven Moore smashed 92 in boundaries — 10 sixes and eight fours — in a scorching 101, while South African professional Roelof Hugo hit 89 out of a total of 293. Glodwick’s paid man Imran Aslam, who was catching a flight home to Pakistan at 10pm last night, took eight for 90.
The visitors had to avoid being bowled out or reach 175 to take the last qualifying position, but they could manage neither, making 153 in reply. Nick Campbell claimed five for 40.
Despite losing to Shaw yesterday, Uppermill leapfrogged neighbours Saddleworth to finish runners-up behind Bamford Fieldhouse.
Zeeshan Khan struck 102 for the Leafields outfit, but an unbeaten 75 from pro Warrick Fynn, who earlier weighed in with four for 65, and skipper Rick Harrington’s 65 steered Shaw home.
Saddleworth wrapped up their campaign on Saturday with a seven-wicket win over Austerlands, who crashed to 73 all out.

What a disappointment.... I had been looking forward to congratulating the League Champions when they came to Greenfield on Saturday. I had even considered the possibility of buying Mr. Barton a beer. But it was not to be because as soon as the game was over they all went straight from the changing rooms to their cars, and up to the Farrar's Arms.
May I wish them all the best with their application(s) to join any other League. (And I mean this most sincerely.)
And how did you know they went to the Farrars Arms Bob, did you follow them? You could have bought him a beer there couldn't you?
Maybe the reception they received from certain supporters and team members was possibly instrumental in the early departure referred to.
Are you saying that a bit of barracking from a couple of pensioners and some verbals on the pitch are enough to cause them to slope off to a local pub instead of coming into the Club? They must be sensitive souls!
As to how I know they were at the Farrars, I have to credit the Greenfield bush telegraph. I certainly didn't follow them; I was on my bike and it's a stiff climb up there.
