It remained goalless at Valley Road until 20 minutes from time when Gary Burnett pounced to break the deadlock.

The Lilywhites pushed desperately for an equaliser, only for Brian Summerskill to make sure of victory as he made it 2-0 in the last minute.

THERE were goals galore in Oldham Boro’s NWCL defeat at Widnes Vikings on Friday night.

Tony Mills’ side went down 5-2, with Vikings striker Connor McCarthy

opening the match in incredible fashion as he scored a hat-trick before the 10-minute mark was up.

It stayed 3-0 until the 63rd minutes when Lee Knowles scored for Boro.

The visitors were then given real hope of an unlikely comeback when Lukanio De Costa's goal eight minutes later made it 3-2.

However, the Vikings wrapped up a deserved victory thanks to late strikes from James Thomas (penalty) and Will Myers.

Boro are in action tonight (7.45pm kick-off) as they host Atherton LR in Division One.
