CROMPTON and Royton’s new captain Steve Costigan has made rapid strides since joining his club four years ago.
He currently boasts a useful handicap of 12 — his best is 11 — and playing up to four times a week in the coming months should see this improve.
Costigan said: “It is a great honour to be chosen as captain of such a proactive and competitive club. Being diabetic I have chosen Diabetes UK as my captain’s charity.”
OLDHAM GEMS played a three-man team Stableford, and leading in with 43 points were John Billington, Stuart Wagstaffe and Steve Mills. They were three ahead of Rod Frizelle, Peter Schofield and John Smith.
