FOOTBALL: OLDHAM Hulmeians bounced back from weekend disappointment in style on Wednesday as they beat Roach Dynamos 3-0 in Division One of the Lancashire Amateur League.

The victory keeps the Maroons firmly in the hunt for promotion.

A patched-up Hulmeians team was beaten 5-1 at home by Old Boltonians Reserves on Saturday.

The game started well enough for the Maroons as Binns’ 13th goal of the season handed them the lead.

But the Bolton outfit quickly equalised, before scoring four times without a reply during a shocking second half.

RIFLE Range ‘A’ and Jolly Carter will contest the Midas Plumbing and Heating Oldham Sunday League President’s Trophy final after both sealed nervy last-four victories.
Carl Beamish and Jermaine Steele were on target for Range as they edged out Failsworth Athletic 2-0.

The other semi-final went all the way to a penalty shoot-out, with Jolly Carter getting the better of High Crompton Victoria 5-3. That came after the match had finished 2-2 following extra-time.

Paul Collins and Rob Walton scored for Jolly Carter, with John Ryder bagging both Victoria’s goals.

Arron Barclay, Dane English, Niall Yates and Lewis Johnson pounced for Royton Athletic as they won their Martin Buckley Division Two clash 4-3 against Albion.

HEYSIDE maintained their Huddersfield League Division Two promotion push thanks to a thrilling 5-4 victory against Meltham Athletic.
Heyside started well with Niall Barnes and Andrew Fulham handing them an early 2-0 lead.

Matthew Crothers and Carl Taylor struck in the second half, before Michael Ward pounced for a late winner to keep his side firmly in the promotion frame.

In Division One, Diggle secured an impressive 3-1 home victory against Holmbridge.

Jack Shaw scored as 3D Dynamos went down 4-1 at home to Division Four table-toppers Colne Valley. The result put an end to the Dynamos’ promotion charge.
