MOSSLEY still have plenty of work to do if they are to reach joint-boss Peter Band’s target of 50 points in the Evo-Stik League Division One North this season.

The Lilywhites are on 41 points with four games remaining, but a tough assignment comes tomorrow when they travel to Burscough, four points ahead of them in the league.

Band said: “There will be no easing off from any of the players during these final few games.

“We disappointed on Tuesday when we lost 4-2 against Northwich Victoria. We’ll need to be up for a fight at Burscough. No matter where they are in the table it’s always a battle there.”

The Lilywhites head to Victoria Park without skipper and experienced goalkeeper Russ Saunders, who has joined Conference North big guns Altrincham on loan as cover ahead of what looks like a forthcoming promotion play-off tilt.

But Band has admitted Mossley fans may well have seen the last of the 27-year-old keeper.

The Evo-Stik League is following professional leagues up and down the country tomorrow by delaying all their match kick-off times until 3.07pm as football commemorates the 25th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster.

OLDHAM Boro face an away North-West Counties League First Division clash at AFC Darwen.
Tony Mills’ side’s miserable 2014 continued last night when they were beaten 4-1 at Holker Old Boys. They have won just once in 10 games since Christmas.

Lee Knowles scored Boro’s consolation goal.

Chadderton have no fixture this weekend. They are next in action tomorrow week when they travel to Atherton to take on Boro.
